What is InterSystems IRIS?
InterSystems IRIS is a complete cloud-first data platform that includes a multi-model transactional data management engine, an application development platform, and interoperability engine, and an open analytics platform.
It is is the next generation of InterSystems' data management software. It includes the capabilities of InterSystems Cache and Ensemble, plus new capabilities that aim to to make it easy to build and deploy cloud based, analytics-intensive enterprise applications with greater performance and scalability.
InterSystems IRIS provides a set of APIs to operate with transactional persistent data simultaneously: key-value, relational, object, document, multidimensional.
Data can be managed by SQL, Java, node.js, .NET, C++, Python, and native server-side ObjectScript language.
InterSystems IRIS includes an Interoperability engine and modules to build AI solutions. InterSystems IRIS provides features for horizontal scalability (sharding, ECP) and provides High Availability features, Business intelligence, transaction support, and backup.

It also involves data synchronization such as prices, which are used in all branches, mainly using service scheduling.

We use Intersystems Iris to develop backend of The "Banque Nationale Alzheimer" a health data warehouse.The frontend is build with Angular and connect to the backend with a REST api. The application collects data from all medical consultations concerning Alzheimer or other degenerative brain diseases on French territory.

With the help of InterSystems IRIS, users can use the TrakCare data to build applications. This tool is useful for application development and better manages the health data.I was looking for a database change management solution and this worked well. I was able to track changes in multiple environments and view it in a single pannel. The documentation was pretty useful and I was able to get started with it pretty quickly.
- For supporting employees, the code table notion is a very nice idea.
- The implementation of several data streams is quick and efficient thanks to the ability to receive, convert, and route data from many sources into a single standard.
- Our biggest challenge is constantly educating new chief architects or executives about the significance of the InterSystems platform in our environment.
We use InterSystems IRIS to work with NHS Trusts to solve their interoperability issues and help develop a more Digital Healthcare system in the UK. I have used multiple InterSystems products to solve customers' interoperability issues/needs, and all do a fantastic job. The technology is incredibly fast, robust, scalable, and intuitive to use.
- The database, integration engine, and Load balancer are all in one place. This is advantageous because there are no hidden costs and it is also far easier to set up the network configuration.
- The sales engineers are very willing to help in any situation and they are also incredibly knowledgeable about the product. They often offer more than one solution to your problem, as well as providing the pros & cons of such solutions.
- Extremely fast & reliable compared to other integration engines. The intuitive nature of the GUI also allows you to easily locate errors, resend messages, and just get a general understanding of what is going on.
- The documentation can be excellent for some things but then is non-existent for explaining other things. There should be more consistency in the level of the documentation on offer.
- Not all the methods for classes work, in particular, I have found half the methods for EnsLib.Rest.Service does not work, and doesn't provide any examples of how to use them (e.g. ReportHTTPStatusCode()).

Definitely has better performance in some of the areas as well as has adjusted a lot with the changing needs of the current industry.

We using InterSystems IRIS as a full solution for our hospital facility to manage entire patient flows and financial flows as well. Technology- and solution-wise it's one super solution. I am previously working with multiple other HIS systems and I found a lot of new things in this HIS solution and users also a lot of new features also available. It's a really good solution.
- Clinical part
- RCM part they will done all most all the DHA and insurance integrations.
- PAS part included the easiest methods for booking appointments and patient management is very easy.
- Audit log for each and every action is a very good thing.
- Code table concept is a very good idea for supporting staffs.
- UI Part little bit improvement required, but that is not a big issue.
- Once done the future booking for appointment we cannot reschedule the appointment up to today is lesser than that booking date.
- g.: Today (29/07/2022) I am booking for an appointment on 01/08/2022, I want that appointment to need to reschedule to 31/07/2022, this is not possible.
- If possible to reschedule the appointment up to the current date is a better option.
- Patient Bill is cancelled then multiple records are getting created, this will be make confusion for users.
- For IT staffs if you can provide the database related training it will be more helpful for manage the Realtime requirements.
I use InterSystems IRIS to develop solutions to interoperability problems within hospital trusts. The solutions I develop allow for more efficient working systems within hospitals which leads to better patient care. The InterSystems engine contains a great many tools to enable me to fulfill this role and a huge amount of documentation to enable me to learn and use the systems effectively.

InterSystems IRIS - "A reliable and efficient application"
I have worked with InterSystems IRIS in several organizations. InterSystems IRIS is a great application that has helped these organizations to operate efficiently and profitably. This software has collected, integrated, managed, and analyzed data, which has improved decision-making in those organizations. As a result, their strategies and visibility have improved, which has increased revenue as well.
- InterSystems IRIS operates efficiently, therefore, it does not crash often. However, if there are any issues with the software they are resolved in a short period of time since InterSystems IRIS' support team is very responsive.
- InterSystems IRIS collects and analyzes data, which improves decision making.
- InterSystems IRIS is very secure. Therefore, the company's data is protected.
- There should be better tutorials so that people can learn how to use the application correctly and derive their benefits from using the application.
- The administration portal is difficult to use, therefore, this should be improved.
- The number of themes in the application should be increased.

Good ecosystems getting better!
We use InterSystems IRIS on all our IT worldwide installations across several departments. Currently used as our Healcare DB in our diagnostics laboratory installations. It serves as a communication hub and lab monitoring to communicate with all the other equipment including laboratory analyzers, other middleware, hospital IT solutions, lab IT solutions and several other hosts.

IRIS: Fast and safe
We only work with InterSystems, so we used the Caché for a long time. We are currently migrating to IRIS, we have already done tests internally and now we are migrating client applications, and the difference is already noticeable, IRIS is really better.

Wish we had IRIS earlier
InterSystems IRIS is being across the whole company, and it's been great for us so far. We mainly use it for customer management, vendor management, and as an integration platform. InterSystems IRIS has given us great performance despite having a quite bulky database. Being in the e-learning industry, we have a lot of data coming from multiple sources about students, schools, colleges and all sorts of examinations. The database performance of InterSystems IRIS has simply been remarkable.

Efficient and Time Saving software
We used InterSystems IRIS only in a few departments at the time, but it was still under expansion for more departments. We used it mainly for creating APIs and BI and communication purposes. Some features that set IRIS apart from others was the support to open technologies and database access.

In my company, we are using Intersystems IRIS as integration platform, usign HL7 message from laboratories and process them in a unique point to process all of them. Each laboratories connect with his reports of patients, and integrate within the insurance database. I don't need an extra application to operate. I can integrate a new laboratory in few minutes.
Also, we use IRIS as REST API server to connect to insurance information (patient, reports, etc..) and it adds an extra security for confidential data.

- Provides a robust platform for API REST.
- Quick access for database.
- High security, integrate OAuth, internal user and password access, etc.
- Complex language to develop.
- Needs a special staff to manage as administrator.
- A lot of security via roles that is could be a bit complex.
We use InterSystems IRIS throughout the company. It assists us in migrating legacy code, solving customer problems through systems development, and creating APIs in a simple and fast way.
- The support provided by InterSystems was great when I needed to ask some questions about the characteristics of IRIS.
